Department overview
The Global Quality Assurance team comprises of 120+ experienced Testing professionals located in Europe and North America and India. The team supports the high quality of Markit’s software by independently verifying that software functionality conforms to business requirements using a combination of manual and technical Testing techniques. The team is also responsible for verifying technical aspects of the implementation including the performance and scalability of the solution.
The Noida based Quality Assurance group of approximately 100 Testing professionals work closely with colleagues in other Markit offices.
Position summary
Markit is seeking an experienced Test/QA Analyst to join its Markit India operation. The individual will support global product test teams by:
- Developing system test scriptsfunctional specifications
- Assisting in Test planning and Test Management reporting
- Running and maintaining manual regression test scripts
- Running and maintaining compatibility test scripts
- Providing BAU test support
- Strong Database knowledge
- Able to write SQL Queries.
- API testing.
This position will largely involve hands-on test build / execution and require knowledge of Markit, ability to prioritize and plan requirements, and ability to accurately report test progress to the QA Manager and other stakeholders. It is a highly technical position and will require knowledge of SQL, stored procedures and other data manipulation technologies. Ability to build custom test tools would be a considerable advantage, as would knowledge of financial services.
Duties & accountabilities
Operational Support
- Execute work with the QA Lead in Markit India and the Product QA Manager to meet product test requirements to the highest standards
- Prepare test plans, test scripts and test cases based on functional specifications and user requirements.
- Demonstrable GUI/ System/Desktop applications testing experience
- Liaise with development and the business to ensure deadlines are met
- Execute manual system tests and identify those that can be automated for regression purposes - assist with the development and maintenance of automated regression test suites
- Ensure defects and incidents are identified, prioritized and dealt with, and that any new versions of software are released in a controlled and timely manner.
- Comment on developments with the prospect of assessing whether they are of good enough quality to be released.
Technical
- Understanding and ability to apply software testing techniques (equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, path analysis etc.) is essential.
- Good understanding of various stages of testing and how different techniques are used
- Experience in interpreting the results of both manual and automated test cases.
- Good understanding of relational databases, SQL, stored procedures and other data manipulation technologies.
- Understanding XML files and interpreting results provided in the format.
- Knowledge of ALM and Jira
- Self-starter who can work with little supervision
Desirable
- Knowledge and experience of financial markets
- Demonstrated ability to work in a globally distributed software development team.
