Job Description

Expectations for the Voice VOC Engineer are to have a high exposure to traditional voice, data and IP Telephony technologies, as well as knowledge and experience with a converged environment. Exhibit consistent technical skills in areas of VOIP, TCP/IP Internetworking, TDMoIP, and IP/PBX Trunking in Avaya/Cisco Voice environment. Voice VOC Engineer is also accountable for supporting and delivering availability by supporting all incidents with the efforts of assessing risk, coordinating resolution with our engineering partners, and delivering assigned incidents/problems. Voice VOC Engineer will also coordinate with Application/Technology Stewards on estimation and prioritization of work as needed, and cooperatively identify development plan tasks and action item creation. The Voice Operation Centre (VOC) have three main roles: 1. To ensure maximum possible service availability and performance 2. To provision customer network services on core equipment 3. To provide support services for Engineering and other technical teams Qualifications • Experience in prevailing industry voice architecture and engineering methodologies - MSF and ITIL preferred. Must have an understanding of how to identify and instill industry best practices. • Ability to diagnosis voice equipment problems, following sound troubleshooting procedures to find solutions • Extensive experience with voice infrastructure and server theories, principles and concepts; voice application infrastructure and standards; networking fundamentals; Windows, Linux; SAN storage systems; clustering; physical server architecture; Voice mail; SIP; VOIP; Trunking; LAN/WAN/Firewall/VPN network technologies. • Knowledge of Enterprise Voice equipment Avaya CM, CMS, AES, Aura, Session Manager, System Manager, Cisco CUCM • Knowledge and understanding of IP, Routers, Switching basics • Possess ability to translate technical issues into understandable business language for end users. • Requires understanding impact of network and voice solutions on business operations. • Experience providing technical and operational leadership to IT professionals. • Strong IT management, documentation, planning and organizational skills. • Possess ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and respond under pressure. • Proven ability to work both independently and as a part of a team. • Requires professional written and oral communication skills and problem solving skills. • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field or has equivalent work experience. • Certification(s) are a plus, such as, CCNA, and/or Avaya. • Prefer specific technical knowledge in two or more of the following areas: Linux, Avaya platforms.
