Data Scientist

General Job Duties: IHS Analytics team is looking for data scientists to help inform decision-making and solve business problems with data from over 4 major, capital intensive industries (Electronics, Energy, Chemicals and Transportation). Data scientists will be responsible for utilizing advanced statistical methods to answer business questions and deliver insightful solutions to complex problems. Specific Job Duties: • Design hypothesis tests, overseeing test execution, and evaluating the results • Develop metrics to measure business performance • Model, predict, and classify consumer behavior and other business metrics • Utilize machine learning and large-scale data mining techniques to discover and identify actionable patterns in the data Required Education: • A minimum four year degree in math, science, economics, or a related field Required Experience: • Applicants must have at least 7-10 years experience performing data analysis / predictive modeling • Well-developed quantitative skills and analytical thinking • Ability to query databases and perform basic statistical analysis • Strong understanding of statistics and statistical theory • At least 1 year of experience with one of the following programming languages: R, Python, Ruby • Familiarity with hypothesis testing and study design • Proficiency in SQL
