SQA Engineer

Summary: Incumbents in this position work as part of a project team to develop and deliver commercial software products for external and internal use. This position requires a self-motivated and dynamic individual with strong technical and communication skills who can contribute to a team environment.

General Job Duties: • Participate as part of a project team that test and measure the quality of new and existing products developed in house. • Use the Agile testing methodology to ensure the application is thoroughly tested throughout development and before release. • Designs detailed test cases and execute them to the end of the release. • Manage defects through from discovery to closure. • Work with the developers to understand the requirements and convert these into documented test cases. • Establish testing procedures to ensure application is thoroughly tested throughout development and before release. • Assist in establishing project timelines; manage assigned component of project within budget and time constraints. • Monitor and report to management on project status, identify issues that may impede attainment of goals, recommend and implement corrective measures. • Contribute positively to global testing effort on large, critical IHS product(s), including the production of test plans, testing strategies, test cases, status reporting, and hands on test execution. • Perform other duties as required.

Education/Experience Requirements: • Minimum bachelor’s degree required in petroleum engineering. • 3+ years of experience in software testing or software development preferred. • Have SQL and SQL Server knowledge. • Experience with data testing using SQL and Oracle scripts. • Have experience with ETL testing (ie., Informatica, DataStage) preferred. • Experience with working effectively as part of a project/program team and foster team cooperation. • Understanding of the agile development process. • Must be able to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel. • Have a high degree of self-motivation and initiative. • Strong analytical skills. • Good technical aptitude. • Ability to organize time effectively.
